5 Tips To Help You Get A Better Night’s Sleep

The crazy cycle of not sleeping enough. Somehow you always get caught up in bed watching TV or doing something else and before you know it, its late. You sleep late which cause you to wake up groggy and irritated with everyone. before you know it, you are doing this same routine the next night and the next night. If you relate to this keep reading the 5 simple steps to getting better sleep.

HAVE A ROUTINE – This could be like brushing your teeth, washing your face, getting your clothes ready for the next day, and allowing yourself some time to wind down and let your body relax. Going to bed and waking up at around the same time everyday helps your brain and body anticipate it, and will make a regular sleep schedule come a lot easier.

CLEAR YOUR ROOM OF DISTRACTIONS — Phones, TV’s, tablets, bright lights. Mindlessly scrolling or watching “just one more” episode keeps your mind occupied, and far from sleep. Clearing your room from distracting gadgets will help your mind focus on drifting off.

GET AN ALARM CLOCK — YES. A real alarm clock. “Why, if I have one on my phone?” Right? No. Keeping your phone right next to you while you’re trying to get to sleep can be tempting for you to be on it. Turning off the distractions and letting your body relax will help you get to sleep.

EXERCISE — Staying active throughout the day can help improve your sleep quality. One of the many reasons daily exercise is beneficial to your health 🙂 As little as 15 minutes of aerobic exercise, such as walking or cycling, can dramatically improve the quality of your nighttime sleep, especially when done on a regular basis.

DE-STRESS — I know, sounds like a lot to ask.. Life is stressful! But worrying will only keep you up at night and prevent you from getting the sleep you need to have a productive tomorrow. Trying things like meditation, or stretching can help you calm down and clear your racing mind or worrisome thoughts.

 

You will say, yes I already know all this but I will have you consider one thing, Knowing and doing are two different things.
